Range of other day activities available
There's a great variety of groups and activities available in local areas right across Buckinghamshire. Many are simply groups based around shared interests such as books or music. Other groups cater for different levels of need, from befriending to specialist support for a particular disability.
Although the Council supports some of these, they are usually run by charities and voluntary groups, for example:
Age Concern
The Red Cross
Prevention Matters
Prevention Matters is a project run jointly by the County Council, Buckinghamshire's district councils, the NHS and the voluntary sector.
It aims to help you if you live in your own home but are becoming a little vulnerable. It can help you stay independent by linking you up with support groups, activities and volunteers in your local community.
You can ask your GP for a referral to Prevention Matters, or you can refer yourself or someone you're concerned about directly.

Finding other groups and activities
If you don't want to go through Prevention Matters, you may be able to find a suitable group or activity online.
Many local voluntary and charitable groups are listed on our Market Place
Some of Buckinghamshire's district councils also produce listings of local services for older people including social and learning opportunities.
