What is it?

Personal Independence Payment (PIP) helps with some of the extra costs caused by long-term ill-health or a disability if you’re aged 16 to 64. It replaces the previous Disability Living Allowance for those making a new claim, and will be rolled out to existing claimants in stages.

PIP isn't means-tested.

Make a claim

To start your claim you'll need to call the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on 0800 917 2222 (textphone 0800 917 777). They will ask you for basic information and then send you a claim form.

Most people will then have to attend a face-to-face assessment of their needs by an independent professional.
